Dr. Cheng Bin ’s Three Key Areas of Expertise

Three areas of focused expertise, each supported by a deep subspecialty team, high case volumes and an English-speaking care pathway coordinated by Orisene.

Oral mucosal diseases

Professor Cheng diagnoses and treats intractable oral mucosal diseases, including recurrent aphthous ulcers, oral lichen planus and burning mouth syndrome, integrating clinical examination, biopsy and individualised medical therapy to relieve symptoms and improve the quality of life of patients in routine clinical practice.

Oral potentially malignant disorders

He evaluates and manages oral leukoplakia, erythroplakia and other potentially malignant disorders, using careful clinical screening, biopsy and long-term follow-up to detect malignant transformation early, guide timely intervention and reduce the risk of oral cancer in all these high-risk patients.

Oral lichen planus

He treats oral lichen planus and other chronic inflammatory mucosal conditions with topical and systemic immunomodulatory therapy, monitoring symptoms, lesion extent and malignant potential to control flare-ups, reduce discomfort and maintain oral comfort for patients living with these persistent conditions.

More: recurrent aphthous ulcer——management; oral candidiasis——treatment; Sjogren’s syndrome——oral care; mucosal biopsy——diagnosis; oral medicine education——teaching

  • Clinical Practice & Publications

Selected cases, research & publications

Representative work drawn from documented clinical treatments, publicly indexed literature, and hospital project records, reflecting the depth of this physician's hands-on expertise and academic rigor.
1. Oral Potentially Malignant Disorders: Early Detection and Risk Warning
For patients with oral leukoplakia, erythroplakia or oral lichen planus, early detection of malignant transformation is critical. Professor Cheng Bin leads research on early identification and risk warning of oral potentially malignant disorders, helping clinicians monitor high-risk lesions and intervene before oral cancer develops.
2. PLIN2 and Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma Progression
This 2025 study explores how the lipid droplet protein PLIN2 influences oral squamous cell carcinoma. For patients concerned about mouth cancer, the findings reveal molecular mechanisms driving tumour growth and suggest potential targets for the diagnosis and treatment of oral malignancy.
3. Oral Cancer Molecular Mechanisms (Review)
This review examines molecular pathways involved in the development of oral cancer. Understanding these mechanisms helps clinicians and patients recognise risk factors for oral squamous cell carcinoma and supports the development of targeted diagnostic and therapeutic strategies in oral medicine, guiding earlier detection and more precise clinical management of oral malignancy.
4. Oral Microbiome and Mucosal Disease
Using microbiome analysis, this study investigates how oral microbial communities relate to mucosal health and disease. For patients with recurrent oral ulcers, lichen planus or chronic inflammation, the work clarifies how bacteria may influence immune responses and guide future prevention or treatment.
5. Oxidative Stress in Oral Mucosal Disorders
This study focuses on redox biology in oral mucosal disease, examining how oxidative stress and cell death pathways contribute to inflammation. The findings offer insight for patients with chronic oral mucosal conditions and support antioxidant-related treatment research in oral medicine.
6. Biomaterials for Oral Mucosal Therapy
This work develops advanced biomaterials for oral applications. For patients seeking modern treatment of oral mucosal lesions, the research explores biocompatible materials that may improve drug delivery, tissue protection and healing in the oral cavity, bridging materials science and clinical oral medicine.

  • WHY INTERNATIONAL PATIENTS CHOOSE CHINA

Why patients travel to China for treatment

Six reasons international patients now put China on their shortlist — from internationally aligned clinical capability to the policy channels that make treatment here genuinely reachable.

Clinical capability at international standard

Chinese hospitals deliver internationally aligned protocols, performing vast volumes of advanced robotic, minimally invasive, and complex transplant surgeries annually. This massive clinical data and highly specialized workforce ensure world-class outcomes, even for rare and complex cases.

Diagnostics and treatment in days, not months

A full medical workup that typically means months of waiting elsewhere is completed in China within 48–72 hours. Imaging, labs, and multidisciplinary consultations are integrated into a single visit, allowing treatment to commence immediately.

Transparent, itemised pricing

Chinese healthcare offers legally binding, itemised cost estimates before treatment begins, eliminating hidden fees or surprise billing. Due to national centralized procurement, total expenses remain 40–70% lower than comparable care in Western Europe or North America.

Policy channels that open the door

China facilitates access through 240-hour visa-free transit and dedicated medical visa routes. Policies like the Greater Bay Area drug pathway and Boao Lecheng’s pilot zone allow designated hospitals to administer innovative therapies not yet globally approved.
