1. Acupuncture for Moderate Depression: Multicentre Randomised Trial
A multicentre randomised trial at Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Chinese Medicine compared integrated acupuncture with sertraline for moderate depression. Among 154 patients, twelve-week response reached 56.8 percent versus 24.4 percent for fifty milligrams of sertraline, and the benefit persisted eight weeks after treatment stopped, supporting acupuncture as a depression treatment.

3. Integrative Acupuncture: One Needle, Two Moxa, Three Consolidation
Professor Fu Wenbin proposed the one needle, two moxa, three consolidation stepped acupuncture model, breaking barriers between traditional acupuncture and modern medicine and founding integrative acupuncture science. Used for difficult brain disorders, pain and depression-related conditions, the model guides staged treatment and has been adopted across many partner hospitals in China.
4. Lingnan Traditional Tianjiu Therapy: Intangible Heritage
As representative inheritor of Lingnan traditional Tianjiu therapy, a provincial intangible cultural heritage, Professor Fu Wenbin promotes this drug-moxibustion method for winter diseases treated in summer. Based on natural correspondences and nourishing yang in spring and summer, the therapy is simple, safe and low-cost, and has been extended to Tibet.
5. Acupuncture Team for Women and Children’s Health (Dongguan)
Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Chinese Medicine’s acupuncture team led by Professor Fu Wenbin partnered with Dongguan Maternal and Child Health Hospital to build an integrated acupuncture and herbal model. The collaboration addresses infertility, menopausal syndrome, chronic pain, emotional disorders and sleep problems, offering women and children whole-cycle, high-quality Chinese medicine care.
6. Acupuncture for Depressive Disorders: Evidence from Fifty-Two Trials
A systematic review and meta-analysis pooled fifty-two randomised controlled trials with more than five thousand patients to assess acupuncture for depressive disorders. Results show acupuncture improves depressive symptoms and supports its use as a complementary therapy, reinforcing the evidence base for integrated acupuncture in mental health care.

Why patients travel to China for treatment
Six reasons international patients now put China on their shortlist — from internationally aligned clinical capability to the policy channels that make treatment here genuinely reachable.
Clinical capability at international standard
Chinese hospitals deliver internationally aligned protocols, performing vast volumes of advanced robotic, minimally invasive, and complex transplant surgeries annually. This massive clinical data and highly specialized workforce ensure world-class outcomes, even for rare and complex cases.
Diagnostics and treatment in days, not months
A full medical workup that typically means months of waiting elsewhere is completed in China within 48–72 hours. Imaging, labs, and multidisciplinary consultations are integrated into a single visit, allowing treatment to commence immediately.
Transparent, itemised pricing
Chinese healthcare offers legally binding, itemised cost estimates before treatment begins, eliminating hidden fees or surprise billing. Due to national centralized procurement, total expenses remain 40–70% lower than comparable care in Western Europe or North America.
Policy channels that open the door
China facilitates access through 240-hour visa-free transit and dedicated medical visa routes. Policies like the Greater Bay Area drug pathway and Boao Lecheng’s pilot zone allow designated hospitals to administer innovative therapies not yet globally approved.
