About Dr. Huang Feng
Feng Huang graduated from Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine in 1983 and has worked in orthopedics and traumatology for more than three decades. He is now director of the orthopedics centre and chief of the traumatology department, a doctoral supervisor and a Guangdong Provincial Famous TCM Physician. His clinical work covers bone and joint injuries, complex wounds and soft tissue defects, bone infection, nonunion, and fractures in elderly and paediatric patients. He inherits Lingnan bone-setting traditions, proposed an elastic fixation concept to improve splint immobilisation, and has led national and provincial research projects while developing three hospital preparations for orthopedic care.

- Director of the Orthopedics Centre and Chief of the Traumatology Department, First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine
- Doctoral supervisor and Guangdong Provincial Famous TCM Physician
- Inheritor of the third batch of national veteran TCM experts’ academic experience
- Supervisor for the sixth batch of national veteran TCM experts’ academic inheritants
- Academic leader of orthopedic traumatology, Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine

Dr. Huang Feng ’s Three Key Areas of Expertise
Three areas of focused expertise, each supported by a deep subspecialty team, high case volumes and an English-speaking care pathway coordinated by Orisene.
Bone and Joint Injuries
Management of multiple fractures, intra-articular fractures, bone defects and fractures in elderly or paediatric patients, combining Chinese bone-setting manipulation, minimally invasive internal fixation and staged reconstruction to restore limb alignment, control infection and enable early joint function for patients with severe limb trauma.
Complex Trauma and Wound Repair
Treatment of severe open injuries, soft tissue defects, chronic wounds, bone infection and fracture nonunion, applying vacuum sealing drainage, flap coverage and microsurgical repair together with Chinese herbal therapy to control infection and promote tissue healing, shorten hospital stay and reduce the risk of amputation.
Fracture Complications and Late Reconstruction
Care of delayed union, nonunion, malunion and post-traumatic deformity, together with nerve and vessel injuries and hand trauma, using bone grafting, external fixator dynamization, tendon and nerve repair and staged rehabilitation to rebuild limb function and help patients return to daily activities.
More:Osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, low back and leg pain, and other degenerative or traumatic musculoskeletal conditions.
Selected cases, research & publications
Representative work drawn from documented clinical treatments, publicly indexed literature, and hospital project records, reflecting the depth of this physician's hands-on expertise and academic rigor.
1. Corrective Osteotomy for Distal Radius Malunion Using 3D-Printed Patient-Specific Guides and Spacers
A retrospective comparative study of twelve patients with old distal radius fracture malunion. Personalised three-dimensional printed osteotomy guides and spacers shortened operating time, reduced intraoperative fluoroscopy, improved the ulnar deviation angle and supported better wrist function recovery than conventional empirical osteotomy.

2. Chronic Recurrent Multifocal Osteomyelitis in Pediatric Patients: A Chinese Single-Center Observational Study
An observational study of seven children with chronic recurrent multifocal osteomyelitis treated at the hospital’s department of pediatric orthopedics between 2018 and 2022. It describes recurrent bone pain, femoral and tibial involvement, magnetic resonance findings, and responses to nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and tumour necrosis factor inhibitors.

3. Anti-Infection and Biodegradable TFRD-Loaded Porous Scaffold for Segmental Bone Defects
Preclinical research on a three-dimensional printed scaffold loaded with total flavonoids of Rhizoma Drynariae for tibial segmental bone defects. The scaffold degraded gradually, released drug steadily, reduced infection, promoted angiogenesis through the PI3K/AKT/HIF-1alpha pathway, and improved new bone formation and mechanical strength in animal models.

4. Causal Associations Between Human Gut Microbiota and Osteomyelitis
A two-sample Mendelian randomization study using genome-wide association data from 13,400 participants and 4,836 osteomyelitis cases. Several bacterial classes, orders and genera were associated with increased osteomyelitis risk, whereas Lachnospira appeared protective, providing genetic evidence that may inform microbiota-based prevention and treatment strategies.

5. Chinese Kidney-Tonifying Granules Combined With Platelet-Rich Plasma Gels for Femoral Defects
An experimental study in rats with femoral bone defects that combined Chinese kidney-tonifying granules with platelet-rich plasma gel. The combination enhanced bone healing and new bone formation more effectively than either agent alone, supporting an integrated Chinese and Western medicine strategy for repairing segmental bone loss.

6. Fixator Dynamization for Delayed Union and Non-Union of Femur and Tibial Fractures
A literature review summarising techniques, timing and influencing factors of external fixator dynamization for delayed union and non-union of femoral and tibial fractures. It compares axial micromotion strategies, patient selection and follow-up protocols, and provides practical guidance for surgeons managing impaired fracture healing.

Why patients travel to China for treatment
Six reasons international patients now put China on their shortlist — from internationally aligned clinical capability to the policy channels that make treatment here genuinely reachable.
Clinical capability at international standard
Chinese hospitals deliver internationally aligned protocols, performing vast volumes of advanced robotic, minimally invasive, and complex transplant surgeries annually. This massive clinical data and highly specialized workforce ensure world-class outcomes, even for rare and complex cases.
Diagnostics and treatment in days, not months
A full medical workup that typically means months of waiting elsewhere is completed in China within 48–72 hours. Imaging, labs, and multidisciplinary consultations are integrated into a single visit, allowing treatment to commence immediately.
Transparent, itemised pricing
Chinese healthcare offers legally binding, itemised cost estimates before treatment begins, eliminating hidden fees or surprise billing. Due to national centralized procurement, total expenses remain 40–70% lower than comparable care in Western Europe or North America.
Policy channels that open the door
China facilitates access through 240-hour visa-free transit and dedicated medical visa routes. Policies like the Greater Bay Area drug pathway and Boao Lecheng’s pilot zone allow designated hospitals to administer innovative therapies not yet globally approved.
