Dr. Ren Donglin ’s Three Key Areas of Expertise
Three areas of focused expertise, each supported by a deep subspecialty team, high case volumes and an English-speaking care pathway coordinated by Orisene.
Hemorrhoids
He treats internal and external hemorrhoids with stapled hemorrhoidopexy, the tissue-selecting technique and minimally invasive procedures, tailoring treatment to each patient's symptoms and anatomy so that pain is reduced, recovery is faster and recurrence is kept low through long-term follow-up in clinic.
Anal fistula
He manages simple and complex anal fistula, including recurrent cases after previous surgery, using precise imaging and sphincter-preserving techniques such as the ligation of the intersphincteric fistula tract, so that the fistula heals while continence and normal anal function are preserved.
Pelvic floor and complex anorectal disease
He treats presacral tumours, rectal prolapse, rectovaginal fistula and faecal incontinence with reconstructive surgery, using an integrated pelvic floor approach that combines colorectal, urological and gynaecological expertise to restore function and improve quality of life for patients with difficult disease.
More: chronic constipation——integrated treatment; anal fissure——treatment; rectal prolapse——surgery; faecal incontinence——reconstruction; pelvic pain——diagnosis
Selected cases, research & publications
Representative work drawn from documented clinical treatments, publicly indexed literature, and hospital project records, reflecting the depth of this physician's hands-on expertise and academic rigor.
1. Long-Term Outcomes After Presacral Tumour Resection (122 Patients)
This single-center series reviewed 122 patients with presacral (retrorectal) tumours treated over a decade, analyzing recurrence and survival after surgical resection. Most tumours were benign and removed by a posterior approach, providing guidance for patients with rare presacral or retrorectal masses and chronic pelvic pain.

2. Xiao Chengqi Formula for Slow Transit Constipation
This translational study evaluated a traditional Chinese formula, Xiao Chengqi, in slow transit constipation, linking its laxative effect to changes in gut microbiota, short-chain fatty acids, and serotonin signaling. It offers supportive evidence for patients with chronic or refractory constipation seeking integrative treatment options.

3. Perianal and Perineal Rhabdomyosarcoma: A 35-Case Multicenter Study
This multicenter study analyzed 35 patients with perianal or perineal rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare and easily misdiagnosed soft-tissue tumour that often mimics a perianal abscess. It highlighted biopsy and MRI assessment of painful perianal masses and recommended multidisciplinary management for better outcomes.
4. Innovating Minimally Invasive Treatment for Hemorrhoids and Complex Fistulas
A university media profile describes original work on the TST procedure for hemorrhoids, a minimally invasive technique now adopted in more than 30 countries and included in Chinese hemorrhoid guidelines. It also covers management of complex anal fistulas, addressing common anorectal complaints and their surgical treatment.

5. Treating a Rare Currarino Syndrome Case from Zambia
News reports describe a teenage boy from Zambia with Currarino syndrome who, after several failed operations abroad, underwent successful transsacral surgery in Guangzhou. The case illustrates multidisciplinary management of complex congenital pelvic and anorectal malformations causing chronic constipation and pelvic masses.

Why patients travel to China for treatment
Six reasons international patients now put China on their shortlist — from internationally aligned clinical capability to the policy channels that make treatment here genuinely reachable.
Clinical capability at international standard
Chinese hospitals deliver internationally aligned protocols, performing vast volumes of advanced robotic, minimally invasive, and complex transplant surgeries annually. This massive clinical data and highly specialized workforce ensure world-class outcomes, even for rare and complex cases.
Diagnostics and treatment in days, not months
A full medical workup that typically means months of waiting elsewhere is completed in China within 48–72 hours. Imaging, labs, and multidisciplinary consultations are integrated into a single visit, allowing treatment to commence immediately.
Transparent, itemised pricing
Chinese healthcare offers legally binding, itemised cost estimates before treatment begins, eliminating hidden fees or surprise billing. Due to national centralized procurement, total expenses remain 40–70% lower than comparable care in Western Europe or North America.
Policy channels that open the door
China facilitates access through 240-hour visa-free transit and dedicated medical visa routes. Policies like the Greater Bay Area drug pathway and Boao Lecheng’s pilot zone allow designated hospitals to administer innovative therapies not yet globally approved.
