Dr. Teng Wei ’s Three Key Areas of Expertise
Three areas of focused expertise, each supported by a deep subspecialty team, high case volumes and an English-speaking care pathway coordinated by Orisene.
Anterior aesthetic restoration
Professor Teng restores discoloured, fractured and misshapen anterior teeth with ceramic veneers, all-ceramic crowns and digital smile design, combining precise tooth preparation and careful shade matching to achieve a natural appearance and durable function for these patients seeking aesthetic improvement.
Implant-supported restoration
He provides implant-supported crowns, bridges and overdentures for these partially and fully edentulous patients, planning individualised implant position, occlusion and aesthetics carefully to restore the chewing, speech and comfort in a way that is stable, natural and easy to maintain.
Occlusal reconstruction
He treats worn, collapsed or malpositioned dentition with occlusal reconstruction, analysing jaw relationships and rebuilding the bite with fixed and removable restorations to relieve the joint and muscle pain, improve chewing efficiency and protect these remaining teeth and jaw joints.
More: tooth defect——crown restoration; dentition defect——fixed bridge; edentulous jaw——overdenture; implant prosthesis——maintenance; aesthetic dentistry——digital design
Selected cases, research & publications
Representative work drawn from documented clinical treatments, publicly indexed literature, and hospital project records, reflecting the depth of this physician's hands-on expertise and academic rigor.
1. Dental Implant Surface Modification and Osseointegration
For patients receiving dental implants, stable bone integration determines long-term success and comfort. Professor Teng Wei researches implant surface modification and bioactive coatings, developing technologies that enhance osseointegration and reduce complications, helping patients with missing teeth achieve durable, reliable implant-supported restorations that function naturally over many years.

2. Antibacterial Biomaterials for Peri-implant and Periodontal Infection
Peri-implantitis and periodontal biofilm threaten the long-term survival of teeth and implants. Teng Wei’s team developed a molybdenum-oxide-based antibacterial system that eradicates stubborn biofilms under near-infrared light, offering a promising and minimally invasive strategy for patients with gum infection around natural teeth or dental implants.

3. Photothermal Biofilm Eradication Study
This study reports an oxygen-vacancy molybdenum oxide and indocyanine green composite for fighting periodontal biofilms. For patients with periodontitis or peri-implant disease, the research demonstrates effective antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects, supporting the development of new light-activated materials for infection control and improved outcomes in implant dentistry.

4. Injectable Electroactive Hydrogels for Bone Repair
This paper presents injectable, degradable electroactive nanocomposite hydrogels for biomedical applications. Such advanced materials may support bone regeneration around dental implants and help treat jaw bone defects, offering minimally invasive options for patients who need bone augmentation before prosthetic rehabilitation or implant placement.

5. Gene-Loaded Nanopolymersomes for Tissue Regeneration
This study investigates gene-loaded nanopolymersomes for controlled local gene delivery. For patients requiring bone or soft tissue regeneration, such advanced nanotechnology may enhance therapeutic angiogenesis and accelerate tissue repair, informing future biomaterial strategies in oral and maxillofacial reconstruction, periodontal therapy and implant treatment.

6. Hospital Expansion and Access to Quality Dental Care
As vice president, Teng Wei highlighted the opening of the Tianhe campus, which adds 260 dental chairs and full coverage of national key dental specialties. The expansion improves access for patients seeking implant, prosthetic and specialised oral care across the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Why patients travel to China for treatment
Six reasons international patients now put China on their shortlist — from internationally aligned clinical capability to the policy channels that make treatment here genuinely reachable.
Clinical capability at international standard
Chinese hospitals deliver internationally aligned protocols, performing vast volumes of advanced robotic, minimally invasive, and complex transplant surgeries annually. This massive clinical data and highly specialized workforce ensure world-class outcomes, even for rare and complex cases.
Diagnostics and treatment in days, not months
A full medical workup that typically means months of waiting elsewhere is completed in China within 48–72 hours. Imaging, labs, and multidisciplinary consultations are integrated into a single visit, allowing treatment to commence immediately.
Transparent, itemised pricing
Chinese healthcare offers legally binding, itemised cost estimates before treatment begins, eliminating hidden fees or surprise billing. Due to national centralized procurement, total expenses remain 40–70% lower than comparable care in Western Europe or North America.
Policy channels that open the door
China facilitates access through 240-hour visa-free transit and dedicated medical visa routes. Policies like the Greater Bay Area drug pathway and Boao Lecheng’s pilot zone allow designated hospitals to administer innovative therapies not yet globally approved.
