About Dr. Zeng Guohua
Dr. Zeng Guohua is Vice President of the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University, Director of its Minimally Invasive Surgery Centre and Director of the Guangdong Key Laboratory of Urology. He has devoted more than three decades to urolithiasis and minimally invasive urology, and invented the super-mini percutaneous nephrolithotomy (SMP) technique, which is now used worldwide. He leads the International Alliance of Urolithiasis and has led multicentre randomised trials comparing mini and standard percutaneous nephrolithotomy. He received the Wu Jieping Urology Award in 2016.

Dr. Zeng Guohua ’s Three Key Areas of Expertise
Three areas of focused expertise, each supported by a deep subspecialty team, high case volumes and an English-speaking care pathway coordinated by Orisene.
Kidney stones (urolithiasis)
He treats kidney and ureteral stones with minimally invasive techniques including mini and super-mini percutaneous nephrolithotomy, flexible ureteroscopy and shock-wave lithotripsy, selecting the least invasive approach to achieve complete stone clearance and protect kidney function in complex and high-risk cases.
Prostate disease
He diagnoses and treats benign prostatic hyperplasia and prostate cancer with minimally invasive and robot-assisted surgery, and provides individualised medical and surgical management based on tumour risk and urinary symptoms, helping older men preserve urinary and sexual function and quality of life.
Urinary tract tumours and strictures
He performs minimally invasive surgery for bladder, kidney and upper urinary tract tumours, and manages urethral and ureteral strictures with endoscopic and reconstructive techniques, aiming to remove disease completely while preserving renal function and normal voiding and improving patients' long-term outcomes.
More: ureteral stones——ureteroscopy; kidney tumours——partial nephrectomy; adrenal disease——laparoscopic surgery; urinary infection——management; paediatric urology——minimally invasive surgery
Selected cases, research & publications
Representative work drawn from documented clinical treatments, publicly indexed literature, and hospital project records, reflecting the depth of this physician's hands-on expertise and academic rigor.
1. Mini-percutaneous nephrolithotomy versus standard PCNL for 20-40 mm renal stones
A multicenter, randomized, noninferiority trial comparing mini-percutaneous nephrolithotomy with standard percutaneous nephrolithotomy for treating twenty to forty millimeter kidney stones, showing comparable stone-free rates with less bleeding and shorter hospital stays for patients with large and complex renal stones in this trial.

2. Suction mini-PCNL versus standard PCNL for 2-4 cm renal stones
A registered multicenter randomized trial comparing suction-assisted mini-percutaneous nephrolithotomy with standard percutaneous nephrolithotomy for the treatment of two to four centimeter kidney stones, evaluating stone-free rate, bleeding and recovery in patients with complex renal stone disease requiring minimally invasive surgical intervention.

3. Enhanced super-mini-percutaneous nephrolithotomy (eSMP) randomized trial
A randomized controlled trial evaluating the enhanced super-mini-percutaneous nephrolithotomy system for treating kidney stones, demonstrating improved endoscopic vision, better stone clearance and reduced operative complications compared with earlier minimally invasive PCNL systems for patients with renal stones and complex anatomy.

4. EAU-IAU joint consensus on percutaneous nephrolithotomy
A joint consensus document from the European Association of Urology and the International Alliance of Urolithiasis standardizing patient selection, tract size, surgical technique and follow-up for percutaneous nephrolithotomy, improving the safety and outcomes of kidney stone surgery worldwide for patients.

5. International Alliance of Urolithiasis guideline on percutaneous nephrolithotomy
An international guideline developed by the International Alliance of Urolithiasis describing best practice for percutaneous nephrolithotomy, covering preoperative imaging, access techniques, stone fragmentation and complication management for patients with complex kidney and upper urinary tract stones worldwide in adults and children.

Why patients travel to China for treatment
Six reasons international patients now put China on their shortlist — from internationally aligned clinical capability to the policy channels that make treatment here genuinely reachable.
Clinical capability at international standard
Chinese hospitals deliver internationally aligned protocols, performing vast volumes of advanced robotic, minimally invasive, and complex transplant surgeries annually. This massive clinical data and highly specialized workforce ensure world-class outcomes, even for rare and complex cases.
Diagnostics and treatment in days, not months
A full medical workup that typically means months of waiting elsewhere is completed in China within 48–72 hours. Imaging, labs, and multidisciplinary consultations are integrated into a single visit, allowing treatment to commence immediately.
Transparent, itemised pricing
Chinese healthcare offers legally binding, itemised cost estimates before treatment begins, eliminating hidden fees or surprise billing. Due to national centralized procurement, total expenses remain 40–70% lower than comparable care in Western Europe or North America.
Policy channels that open the door
China facilitates access through 240-hour visa-free transit and dedicated medical visa routes. Policies like the Greater Bay Area drug pathway and Boao Lecheng’s pilot zone allow designated hospitals to administer innovative therapies not yet globally approved.
