Dr. Zheng Yiqing ’s Three Key Areas of Expertise
Three areas of focused expertise, each supported by a deep subspecialty team, high case volumes and an English-speaking care pathway coordinated by Orisene.
Cochlear implantation and hearing restoration
Professor Zheng is a leading authority in cochlear implantation for children and adults with severe sensorineural hearing loss. He has completed more than one thousand implant procedures and pioneered minimally invasive techniques in southern China, helping deaf patients recover useful hearing through careful electrode placement and rehabilitation.
Middle ear disease and hearing reconstruction
He manages chronic suppurative otitis media, cholesteatoma, otosclerosis and congenital malformations of the outer and middle ear. Using microscopic and endoscopic ear surgery, he performs tympanoplasty, ossicular chain reconstruction and stapes surgery, restoring hearing while preserving the ear's structure and controlling recurrent infection in both children and adults.
Vertigo, tinnitus and deafness
Professor Zheng diagnoses and treats vertigo, tinnitus, sudden deafness and Meniere's disease, combining audiological assessment with medical and rehabilitative therapy. He also evaluates acoustic neuroma, temporal bone tumours and facial nerve disorders, offering patients integrated medical and surgical care for these complex conditions of the ear and skull base.
More:eustachian tube dysfunction; external and middle ear malformation repair; head and neck tumours; voice and laryngeal disorders; hearing aids and bone-anchored devices; paediatric hearing screening and rehabilitation.
Selected cases, research & publications
Representative work drawn from documented clinical treatments, publicly indexed literature, and hospital project records, reflecting the depth of this physician's hands-on expertise and academic rigor.
1. Minimally Invasive Cochlear Implantation for Severe Deafness
A young patient with severe bilateral sensorineural hearing loss received a minimally invasive cochlear implant through a small retroauricular incision. The electrode array was placed precisely and the device activated after healing; with rehabilitation the patient regained useful hearing and developed clearer speech within months.

2. Endoscopic Treatment of Eustachian Tube Dysfunction
A patient with persistent ear fullness, hearing loss and recurrent middle ear effusion was diagnosed with eustachian tube dysfunction. Endoscopic balloon dilatation of the eustachian tube restored normal ventilation of the middle ear, resolving the effusion and improving hearing without the need for repeated drainage procedures.

3. Tympanoplasty for Chronic Suppurative Otitis Media
A middle-aged patient with chronic suppurative otitis media and a perforated eardrum suffered persistent discharge and conductive hearing loss. Under the microscope the team repaired the tympanic membrane and reconstructed the ossicular chain, controlling the infection and significantly improving hearing with a stable, dry ear postoperatively.

4. Integrated Management of Meniere’s Disease and Vertigo
A patient with recurrent vertigo, fluctuating hearing loss and tinnitus was diagnosed with Meniere’s disease after audiological and vestibular assessment. Combined medical therapy, lifestyle guidance and vestibular rehabilitation reduced the frequency of attacks, stabilised hearing and allowed the patient to return to normal daily activities.

Why patients travel to China for treatment
Six reasons international patients now put China on their shortlist — from internationally aligned clinical capability to the policy channels that make treatment here genuinely reachable.
Clinical capability at international standard
Chinese hospitals deliver internationally aligned protocols, performing vast volumes of advanced robotic, minimally invasive, and complex transplant surgeries annually. This massive clinical data and highly specialized workforce ensure world-class outcomes, even for rare and complex cases.
Diagnostics and treatment in days, not months
A full medical workup that typically means months of waiting elsewhere is completed in China within 48–72 hours. Imaging, labs, and multidisciplinary consultations are integrated into a single visit, allowing treatment to commence immediately.
Transparent, itemised pricing
Chinese healthcare offers legally binding, itemised cost estimates before treatment begins, eliminating hidden fees or surprise billing. Due to national centralized procurement, total expenses remain 40–70% lower than comparable care in Western Europe or North America.
Policy channels that open the door
China facilitates access through 240-hour visa-free transit and dedicated medical visa routes. Policies like the Greater Bay Area drug pathway and Boao Lecheng’s pilot zone allow designated hospitals to administer innovative therapies not yet globally approved.
