Dr. Yin Aihua ’s Three Key Areas of Expertise

Three areas of focused expertise, each supported by a deep subspecialty team, high case volumes and an English-speaking care pathway coordinated by Orisene.

Prenatal diagnosis

As a leading expert, she performs prenatal diagnosis of fetal chromosomal and genetic disorders using chromosomal microarray, exome sequencing and invasive testing, enabling early detection of abnormalities before birth and clear, informed counselling for families at risk to support pregnancy decisions.

Birth defect prevention

She builds and leads the provincial birth defect prevention and control system, coordinating screening, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up to reduce the incidence of congenital disorders, improve newborn health and reduce disability across Guangdong province through a province-wide coordinated prevention network.

Genetic counseling

She provides genetic counseling for couples with a family history of hereditary disease, recurrent miscarriage or abnormal screening results, explaining genetic risks clearly and guiding informed reproductive decisions with compassionate, evidence-based advice and ongoing emotional support throughout pregnancy and beyond.

More: fetal anomaly assessment——ultrasound and genetic evaluation; chromosomal microarray——detection of microdeletions and duplications; carrier screening——preconception genetic risk testing; hereditary disease diagnosis——rare genetic disorder confirmation

Selected cases, research & publications

Representative work drawn from documented clinical treatments, publicly indexed literature, and hospital project records, reflecting the depth of this physician's hands-on expertise and academic rigor.
1. When NIPT Meets WES: Genetic Etiology of 2,328 Fetuses with Increased Nuchal Translucency
A retrospective cohort of 2,328 pregnancies with nuchal translucency thickening evaluated chromosome karyotyping, CMA, and whole exome sequencing. The study guides prenatal genetic counseling by recommending NIPT-Plus for NT below 3.0 mm and combined CMA plus WES testing for NT of 3.0-3.49 mm, improving detection of fetal chromosomal and single-gene disorders.
2. Exome Sequencing in Fetuses with Short Long Bones Detected by Ultrasonography
This retrospective cohort applied exome sequencing to fetuses with short long bones on prenatal ultrasound. Among 94 fetuses, pathogenic or likely pathogenic variants were identified in 38 cases (40.4%), most frequently associated with achondroplasia, osteogenesis imperfecta, and thanatophoric dysplasia. The findings support exome sequencing in diagnosing fetal skeletal dysplasia and prenatal genetic counseling.
3. Clinical Utility of Exome Sequencing in Hearing Loss
This cohort assessed exome sequencing for hereditary hearing loss in 171 probands. A molecular diagnosis was reached in 45.6% of cases, involving variants across 33 genes. The results demonstrate the value of exome sequencing for genetic diagnosis, carrier identification, and reproductive counseling of families affected by congenital or early-onset hearing loss.
4. A Multidisciplinary Approach to Prenatal Diagnosis of Tuberous Sclerosis Complex with Cardiac Rhabdomyoma
This study integrated parental phenotype, fetal echocardiography, cerebral MRI, and genetic testing to evaluate 61 fetuses with cardiac rhabdomyoma. Pathogenic TSC1 or TSC2 variants and cerebral lesions predicted tuberous sclerosis complex, guiding perinatal management. The multidisciplinary workflow improved prognostic counseling for pregnancies complicated by fetal cardiac tumors.
5. A Spectrum of Clinical Severity of Recessive Titinopathies in Prenatal
This report describes fetal-onset recessive titinopathies caused by TTN variants, ranging from severe arthrogryposis to milder phenotypes. Minigene splicing assays and isoform analysis clarified variant consequences. The findings highlight the value of exome sequencing and careful genotype-phenotype interpretation in prenatal diagnosis and genetic counseling for families with fetal akinesia or contractures.
6. Noninvasive Prenatal Detection of Hemoglobin Bart Hydrops Fetalis via Maternal Plasma
Using target-captured sequencing of cell-free fetal DNA, this large study screened couples at risk of hemoglobin Bart hydrops fetalis, a lethal form of alpha-thalassemia. Sensitivity and specificity reached 100% and 99.31% in the testing set, offering earlier, noninvasive prenatal detection that avoids invasive procedures for at-risk pregnancies.

  • WHY INTERNATIONAL PATIENTS CHOOSE CHINA

Why patients travel to China for treatment

Six reasons international patients now put China on their shortlist — from internationally aligned clinical capability to the policy channels that make treatment here genuinely reachable.

Clinical capability at international standard

Chinese hospitals deliver internationally aligned protocols, performing vast volumes of advanced robotic, minimally invasive, and complex transplant surgeries annually. This massive clinical data and highly specialized workforce ensure world-class outcomes, even for rare and complex cases.

Diagnostics and treatment in days, not months

A full medical workup that typically means months of waiting elsewhere is completed in China within 48–72 hours. Imaging, labs, and multidisciplinary consultations are integrated into a single visit, allowing treatment to commence immediately.

Transparent, itemised pricing

Chinese healthcare offers legally binding, itemised cost estimates before treatment begins, eliminating hidden fees or surprise billing. Due to national centralized procurement, total expenses remain 40–70% lower than comparable care in Western Europe or North America.

Policy channels that open the door

China facilitates access through 240-hour visa-free transit and dedicated medical visa routes. Policies like the Greater Bay Area drug pathway and Boao Lecheng’s pilot zone allow designated hospitals to administer innovative therapies not yet globally approved.
