Dr. Lan Ping is Academic Leader of Colorectal Surgery at the Sixth Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University and Director of the Guangdong Digestive Disease Clinical Research Centre. A former Vice President of Sun Yat-sen University and President of the Sixth Affiliated Hospital, he has devoted more than thirty years to minimally invasive surgery for colorectal cancer and inflammatory bowel disease, performing over five hundred operations each year. His research spans the gut microbiome, colorectal cancer genetics and inflammatory bowel disease, and has been published in leading journals such as Nature and The Lancet Gastroenterology & Hepatology. He is a recipient of the State Council Special Allowance and the National Famous Doctor award.
